On December 13, 2016, the United Nations (UN) Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) hosted the 2017 High-Level Pledging Conference. Established in 2006, the CERF provides rapid humanitarian response worldwide1. The CERF consolidates contributions from donors, in order to deliver food, potable water, medical supplies and other life-saving aid to those affected by disasters, conflicts and crises. It has since help millions of people in 92 countries and territories across the globe.

Government bodies and member states from countries such as Australia, Denmark, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Italy, Spain and Korea attended this conference and announced their pledges to CERF  in 2017. The World Mission Society Church of God was also invited by the UN to attend the conference, with General Pastor Kim Joo-cheol as its representative.

The Church of God has activity responded to various relief efforts around the world. Through these activities, the Church of God was honoured with the award from the United States and the Korean President, and in this year the Queen’s Voluntary Service award along with the title of MBE from the Queen of the United Kingdom. All these Church of God humanitarian activity originated from the heart of mother “And we believe the UN also takes care of the whole world with the heart of a mother. For this reason the Church of God would like to continue to support the CERF and looks forward to working with other entities of the UN in the future to help all those who are in need,” said General Pastor, Kim Joo Cheol.

The World Mission Society Church of God also visited the UN in 2010 to present donations to Haiti.

More than 128 million people are in need of assistance today and global humanitarian needs have quadrupled during these years. The World Mission Society Church of God will continue to offer its support to the UN in all the ways it can.
