Have you ever received a gift from someone? Or perhaps, have you ever prepared a gift for someone—someone who mattered to you; someone important to you? You must have racked your brain, spending hours and efforts to prepare the perfect gift. From the colour of the gift wrap to the words on the gift card—you would have looked meticulously into every single detail.
After all that extensive preparation for the gift, what response did you wish to receive? Perhaps thrill, or excitement? Mostly, we hope that the gift is at least appreciated. However, as time pass by, many a times they are put aside, left to sit in the dust, and finally, forgotten.
God is giving us, His loving children, the greatest gift of all—eternal life.
Romans 6:23 … the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord …
What was the preparation behind this gift? His flesh and blood.
John 6:53-54 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.
Through the Passover, Jesus had opened the way for us to eat His flesh and drink His blood (Mt 26:17-19, 26-28). Jesus earnestly wanted us to keep the Passover—the life-giving feast which He paid at the expense of His own life.
Luke 22:15 … I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.
How would you feel if the gift you had spent hours preparing for is neglected? Wouldn’t you feel disappointed and wish that it was cherished a little more?
Our Heavenly Father delivered the gift of eternal life to us from heaven. It was paid in full with His own flesh and blood. This is the most valuable gift we will ever receive; it is priceless. Until now, He is still waiting for us to receive this gift. Let us not let it pass by. Come to the Spirit and the Bride (Revelation 22:17) and receive the greatest gift of all.

I felt a lump in my throat after reading the article. Sometimes when my mom has prepared a meal for me but I had already eaten, the effort to preparing the meal seemed wasted. Let’s keep the Passover, the very last thing that Jesus wanted to celebrate with us before He was crucified. What better way to remember Him other than obeying what He wants us to do? I really give Thanks to Father and Mother for allowing me to realize this precious truth.
