Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream
King Nebuchadnezzar was the greatest king of Babylon who reigned between 605 B.C. to 562 B.C. One day, he had a terrifying dream about what was to happen to him. He summoned Daniel, one of God’s chosen prophet, to interpret the dream for him (Daniel 4:19-23).
Daniel 4:24-26 “… You will be driven away from people and will live with the wild animals; you will eat grass like the ox and be drenched with the dew of heaven … until you acknowledge that the Most High is sovereign over all kingdoms on earth …”
Time passed and King Nebuchadnezzar grew arrogant, thinking that his kingdom was built with his own power. From then on, he began to fall.
Daniel 4:28-37 “King Nebuchadnezzar … said, “Is not this the great Babylon I have built as the royal residence, by my mighty power and for the glory of my majesty?” … Immediately what had been said about Nebuchadnezzar was fulfilled. He was driven away from people and ate grass like the ox. His body was drenched with the dew of heaven until his hair grew like the feathers of an eagle and his nails like the claws of a bird …“
As soon as King Nebuchadnezzar thought ‘I did it myself’, all his wisdom perished and he was given the mind of an animal.

Pride Goes Before Destruction
Proverbs 16:18 Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.
As time passes, we may also become proud. We are apt to think that our success or achievement is due to our own ability. Let us remember the lesson from King Nebuchadnezzar. Whether we achieve something or not depends only on God, not on our own ability and wisdom. All we have, we owe to God. Let us remain humble by being conscious of God, giving all glory and thanks to Him.
