On 12 November 2018, the World Mission Society Church of God was presented with two Green Apple Awards amongst 112 awardees. The winners were invited to the House of Commons, Palace of Westminster, London, U.K where the award ceremony was held. Annually, the Green Organisation promote environmental protection practices by recognising the environmental best practices among governments, public institutions and individuals through this award. The Green Organisation is an international non-profit and non-political environmental organisation.
The Green Apple Awards are officially acknowledged by the European Commission and the U.K. Environment Agency as the best environmental award in Europe. The Gold Award in the field of International campaign was presented to ASEZ (Save the Earth from A to Z), the World Mission Society Church of God’s University Student Volunteer Group. By teaming up with universities and government bodies all over the world, ASEZ organised environmental clean-up campaigns as well as seminars to raise awareness for the preservation of the earth and its resources. ASEZ constantly makes efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals [SDGs], spearheaded by the United Nations. Hence their efforts has been recognised by the Green Organisation.
On top of the Gold Award, World Mission Society Church of God too, received the Bronze Award which is outstanding for any religious organisation. Roger Wolens, founder of the Green Organization commended the World Mission Society Church of God “There were about 500 nominees this year. I want to say the Church of God did a great job”.
The World Mission Society Church of God will continue to carry out efforts through the Worldwide Environmental Cleanup, being the salt and light of the world.
